The model
Four states, in order.
Every moment of value on a record moves through the same four states, in this order: witnessed, shown, confirmed, settled.
Witnessed is the moment written down where the record lives, in the words of the person it was for. Shown means that person has been shown it, and the showing is recorded with words and a time. Confirmed means the person who received the value said so, in an act with its own record.
Two rules hold at every state. The person who did the work cannot confirm their own. And nothing on the page adds the figures up into one total, ranks anyone, or sets a number to hit.
